I get a lot of recruiters reaching out to me weekly. Which feels odd because when I check out LinkedIn for industry news, it feels like doom and gloom and that the industry is going downhill. I think it’s a great time to be a designer! The speed at which I can get things done using AI is helpful. Small tasks are done almost instantly while I can focus on the creative part and understand the goals of a project.
Why don’t I have a portfolio? I’m enjoying my family and the things we do on a daily basis. I have an ongoing Figma file of half-started random ideas I’d love to show off sometime. I want to create some crazy off-the-wall website to showcase my stuff, but then something more fun happens, like playing outside, gaming, and watching anime with all my boys. I only get so much of that time in life before it’s gone.
I’m still creating a bunch of cool stuff in the after hours of quiet. One day soon I’ll find the perfect outlet that allows me to display that on my own time. Until then, I’m just vibing along and loving life.
In short, I’m enjoying life right now.
